Seminole County Supervisor of Elections 1500 East Airport Blvd., Sanford, FL 32773
To register to vote in Seminole County, you must meet all of the following requirements:
If you are at least 16 years old and meet all other eligibility requirements, you may preregister to vote. Pre-registration allows you to complete the registration process early so you are ready to vote when you turn 18.
Your preregistration will automatically become an active voter registration on your 18th birthday. At that time, the Supervisor of Elections will mail you a voter information card, and you will be eligible to vote.
If your 18th birthday falls between the registration deadline and Election Day, and you preregistered before the deadline, you will be eligible to vote in that election.
Florida is a closed primary state. You are not required to choose a political party when you register to vote. However, party affiliation affects which candidates you may vote for in certain elections.
In partisan primary elections, voters may only vote for candidates from the political party with which they are registered. To vote in a party’s primary, you must have been registered with that party at least 29 days before the election.
In general elections, all voters may vote for any candidate listed on their ballot, regardless of party affiliation, including voters with no party affiliation.
You may change your political party affiliation at any time. If the voter registration books are closed for an upcoming election, which occurs 29 days before Election Day, any party change submitted during that period will take effect after the election.
Party affiliation changes may be submitted using a Florida Voter Registration Application or by sending a signed, written request that includes your date of birth or voter identification number. Written requests should be mailed to the Supervisor of Elections’ office.
